Re: SP-555 Finally arrived! 404 will say good-bye? (606 Update)
Hmmm... I think I'm about to end my SP-Story with this information:
I sold 606 and now Im waiting for my good-old 404 to arrive
It was mad fun to play with almost all the SPs but in the end it all comes back to the beginning.

Yeah, I went from SP-555 -> SP-606, with later a Kaoss Pad 3 -> MV-8800 + MC-505 and later MC-808. Still have those last three, but from the SPs I liked the SP-606 the best.
Mostly because of the fact that I never really got into the SP-555. I mean, I could make beats on it, but they felt like random successful experiments, not carefully planned beats.
The SP-606 made things a lot easier for me and helped me become good at using samplers in general. I definitely make better beats on my MV, but the SP-606 is where it really kicked off for me.
I didn't use the Kaoss Pad 3 all that often, but it was neat to have owned for a while. Ultimately I think it had a little bit too much 'Kaoss Pad' sound to it for me to really enjoy it, but the touchscreen x/y FX is awesome.
That reminds me, on my MV, despite having the much much better bass synth in there, I miss the d-beam! Now, I do got it on my MC-808, but that's a monster when it comes to sampling, quite annoying! I used to miss the SP-606, but I've become more used to my MV now.
I'm not going to sell my MV-8800, like ever... that's how comfortable I feel using it, maybe if Roland releases an MV-9900 or so, but it might be simply too expensive for me anyway.
I've looked into the MPC-5000 and wasn't as impressed with it as with Roland's MV. Not sure, but guess I'm a SP & MV kind of guy, not an MPC guy.

many mpc guys told me that the mpc-5000 is almost a flop and the mpc-4000 rest for now the only mpc that can be compared to the mv 8000/8800.
anyway i sold suddenly my mpc-500, and the mpc-1000 is a good machine but finally i don't use it that often.

It's save to say the MPC-5000 won't easily be first choice for many people that already have owned MPCs, especially the 3000 and 4000.
