hurlingdervish, I agree that dubstep is well varied. (jumping in late so im not getting into most things) I am a DJ and I play dubstep at least 4 nights a week across the south and I dont think I would spin that track you posted. (NO PERSONAL ATACKS JUST OPINION) but that song is more in line with Electro House, which is trendy as hell in the US right now. But I do play Snoop dog millionaire more times than not. People go crazy for that hook. Heads stop bouncing and people start moshing. Its not the effect that dubstep started out with but I, personally, think it is a good progression. DUBSTEP is being played in clubs around the world. Can you believe that? I think Diplo and his Top Ranking mixtape owes a lot to the genera but at the same time dubstep owes a lot to Diplo for making it trendy in underground/hipster/indie america. Oh yea and you got that song off his blog, kind of says a lot about the trendyness of it all. I mean Animal Collective is on MTV (apparently? i just heard, dont own one) and Grizzly Bear debuted in Billboard top 10, why cant Dubstep be popular too?

kode 9 is great but its kind of too minimal to be picked up by rappers at first. yea itd be cool if we got like mf doom abstract rappers on some spacey shit, but SOMEONE has to do it first here.
