Monitor Recommendations?

Those KRKs are very nice, but also a tad expensive.

I'm very pleased with my Edirol's, but I can't say if those are better or worse. I didn't pay much for a pair though and it works fine for me!

what are the very first technical caracteristics we have to see for bass response and to buy a monitor in general?

U mean whut do u need to know when buying subwoofer or monitors?

i guess...size, u dont need big ones if u have small studio space, or u travel a lot and if u have big studio space u need bigger ones. Whut is monitors freq response, are they really flat, are they really studio monitors or hi-fi "monitors". Little monitors have 80-30, 60-20, 50-20 freq response, so thats why people buy subwoofers, they can go low...to 20...i dont need subwoofer tho, because i dont use 20-30hz bass a lot, u cant even heard that low in most hi-fi systems.

But it would be cool to have some state of the art 2.1 monitoring system, and listen some king tubby...

Theres lots of good cheap monitors, behringer, alesis, m-audio....

I will someday buy behringer truths, i have listened and mixed with those a little...great monitors.

thanx kr. aiwa are not bad. they're only cd speaker. who knows...

i'm however pushed to think that behringer isn't ok. beware. i don't know about the monitor but the other behringer stuff (mixer or preamps for example) are not that good. but i could be wrong in this case.

I have a sub, eq'ing with it is a pain tho. But I learnt if the bass is making my floor shake then its usualy alright on other peoples systems (hope fully)...

I want some moniters so I can eq better....monies tho aint it

i noticed someone said you need to find a reference point on speakers. its very true. listen to levelled music alot on any speakers/head phones and you can really level any track just by knowing that the speaker puts out heavy bass or something. what i do now that i know how to level better on my headphones i then listen to them on ear buds like ipod ones and if it sounds good then the track is probably level, i also listen to them on these shitty speakers at work and i always know if it sounds level on those then it is haha.

its good to switch between speakers when mixing

however if you mix on speakers that are being cut off at like 80 hz or something your going to boost frequencies that dont need boosting in order to hear them, and then increasing the possibility of drowning out another part in that spectrum
