Hosting account suspended

As you might have read in the last couple of hours, my hosting account was suspended which meant all websites hosted by me, including SP-FORUMS, were put offline. I'm not sure what the reason was, I'm asking them now…

Hmmm, you might want to make some extra back-ups just in case for the future, as indeed that doesn't sound very logical to me.

I doubt their registration system is automated in such a way that it automatically would shut down your websites when something isn't adding up somewhere.. error or not.

Same shit, different day.

All websites (including the forums) were moved to a new server today. I wasn't aware of that, although they did email me a couple of weeks ago about it so I should have known. That same email stated I didn't have to do anything, just wait for the move to be completed.

The server move didn't go very smoothly though. The forums were offline for quite some hours and the database containing all the posts for some reason didn't move to the new server so you might have seen an error message about that for a while.

Everything should be fixed now, but I will definitely move to a new host as soon as I have the time (probably next week).

I'm making daily backups of the database so if anything REALLY goes bad we only lose 1 day worth of posts max. Now that's still something I hope won't happen, but if it does, we still have most of the data.

Good looking out then, it would be a shame to lose any of this because of some freak hosting accident.

Anyways, I was surprised about the downtime today, but it wasn't such a bad thing in the end as I should have been busy with some other things anyways.
