but it looks like the "dubstep purist" hate it. fuck em. but really - i don't think you should be a purist on a genre that is based on rhythm synced modulation & envelope filters.

It'd be cool if KRS One hopped on some Kode 9 stuff or something, but I'm not too into this. But, I could see the more popularized dubstep sound (Caspa) becoming popular in more commercial rap in the US.

this^^^ :D

americans twisting dubstep into something new will be awesome, because all dubstep originally was, was reggae + techno + dnb + rap beats

kode 9 is great but its kind of too minimal to be picked up by rappers at first. yea itd be cool if we got like mf doom abstract rappers on some spacey shit, but SOMEONE has to do it first here. i dont think they will continue the UK style too much, there will definately be some merging going on

i like bass clef the best

but

chase and status are somehow hated for some unknown reason to me, i dont know. they pick good samples i think and make dope basslines yet people bash them constantly....

im just sick of the way popular rap is going right now, the whole 90's dance vibe shit, itd be nice if things got darker again

btw. i hear on the dubstep forums there are more rappers signing on, thanks to some LA dj's

yeah i actually like dubstep but chase and status are fairly shit. overly produced crap style. their sound reminds me of everything that went wrong with drum n bass.

a lot of dubstep really annoys me though. it tries way too hard to be dark with "oops it's already rinsed a million times" horror movie samples, coupled with overly digital sounding bass. i fucking love dubstep, but a load of trendy wankers basically jumped on the bandwagon and now 90% of it is shit.

ive listened to it for quite a while and i dont really see it that way. thats what makes dubstep what it is, its the most versatile dance music, theres always something different out there for you to find. some people bring dnb to it, others trance, others hip hop, others reggae, etc. thats just the way it is.
but 99 percent of hip hop is shit, 99 percent of rock is shit, but its those 1 percent that makes the genre not all the copycats.

if you didnt hear c&s all the time, and you heard indian dub next to 16 bit "in the death car" youd think they were the same producer. 16 bit gets more praise for reasons i cant understand either, i like them but its basically in the same style of the shit people bash.

the point is SNOOP DOGG MILLIONARE is the shit. because its just people having fun (you can almost smell the blunts coming out of the vocal takes)

its the most versatile dance music,

I disagree.. There are many other areas that are just as versatile.

than start naming them :D

maybe like robb g or deadmau5 type stuff but all of those tracks have that uppity feel

dubstep you can get away with downtempo feels and dreary stuff mixed over the beat... then come right back into industrial esque bass, then into a reggae song
not possible with that heavy tech stuff

minimal...all the same
psytrance....all the same
