SP-404 from the states?

Post by monks1975 »

Any problems with voltages if a US bought SP-404 is used in the UK? Would it need a step down tranformer?

Thanks.

You can't use the power supply that comes with it, - well you could with a stepdown transformer, but that would be a costly solution to an easy problem.

just go to your local electronics store and buy a 9V DC power supply, (check the mA rating too.. make sure you get *at least* the same mA as the one that comes with the sp-404.. with current/mA its better to have too much than not enough.

It should come with a bunch of diff. shaped plugs to fit different things - when attaching the head, make sure the TIP polarity matches that of the SP-404.

You'll see a little diagram on the 404's power supply, a positive on one side, a negative on the other side, one is the 'ring' polarity, the other is the 'tip'

the ring is the sign connected to the '--C' shaped bit,
the tip is the sign connected to the o-- shaped bit (the o goes inside the C in the diagram if that makes sense)

+ --Co-- - = negative tip
or
- --Co-- + = positive tip

I dunno what they'd cost in the UK, here in australia it's about A$25,
and going by the exchange rate, probly bout 10 pounds or sumthin.
Heaven forbid, I go my own way and..
Heaven forbid, I dont be a slave, man..
Cos I know that it's hard to accept,
I'm an outcast.
