dont sleep on center canceller and eq.

ok i officially beleive the 303 404 and 505 all sound diferent from eachother.

and i have finally almost learned to make the 404 sound good.

i think it just takes time to tune your ear, because after a while of death spike snares you learn death spike snares arent cool .

so use center canceller ( sometimes ) notice that kick ass bass ?

ok eq your snares . this makes them better .

so, you're saying you use c. canceler to shape your bass?

never tried...

but,
is it very diffrent from the compressor fx, or that Vinyl Sim 3rd knob compressor technique?

have you tried any of these for bass?

I was trying to figure which process has best results, since I've been takin notes about fx's of the 404 and realised people use different techniques for bass.

absolutely, c canceler is almost like an extreme filter for either the low and or high end, its usually pretty tight to use the c canceler to get a bassline and then turn it down and layer it with the original (maybe slightly eq'd with the bass out, but keep some so you can hear the higher end of the bass notes, the c canceler usually takes out some of the slap and just leaves the low frequency) and then lay some vinyl sim comp over both tracks and adjust the volume accordingly.........another really good compressor kinda effect is to use the radio tuner with all the knobs turned down, i have been runnin all my tracks out of the 404 with vinyl sim comp across the samples through the 303 with the radio tuner on like i said and the sound is ususally real tight

thanks for the explanation. I wasn't even sure of what that fx was about.
I used it yesterday on really long bass notes and it turned out really nice, real bassy
I even think it gained a certain 'pete rock style bass' to it. eheheheheh
(at least in the blunted catacombs I keep glued to my neck)

yes, this is very true. i own the 3 and i can tell it. my preference in sound go to the 303.
but i'm not really satisfied from the 404 sound. it seems to me a bit "plastified" or something. maybe i have to learn more how to make sound better this machine...
