Seems like most of you guys are hipphoppers and the like. As being a EBM-oldschooler my question is whatcha think about the sr-18 an the more syntish basses

i think its a cool piece of gear. always good to have some different sounds n vibes at a reasonable price. also drum machines with built in sounds r great for rhythm practice too

I dunno.. I could never bring myself to buy something with sounds that you can't modify or load up new ones....

I know what you're saying, but in some cases it might be worth investing in a new source of sounds. Of course, you are right, something that gives you the ability to tweak sounds is ten times better. Like an MC-505/MC-303 for example.

to the OP:
I bet a bit of searching, you could find someone selling a dvd/cd of all the SR-18 sounds for a coupla dollars!

not worth it unless you're doing live work or want to stay away from computers altogether.

download a couple of drum VSTs and run them into your sp for much better flexibility and sound.
