Couple problems with my 404...

Post by Macavich69 »

So I've had issues with this thing from day 1. Now that I'm actually starting to understand it I'm realizing some things just don't work the way they're supposed to. A major question I have is whenever I press pad 9 it throws me into the pattern sequencer and starts playing the ridiculous preset samples that I also can't seem to get off. I have followed the manual instructions and nothing happens when I hold down "cancel" as I turn on the power with NO "p.of." display appearing. Also when I press some of the main effect buttons as well, I will receive a sound like I'm pressing pad 5 when really I'm only pressing the filter+drive button. Same goes with the isolator I get the delete button and vinyl sim I get the record button. Is my 404 crazy or am I?....please help.

I called the place I got it from and thankfully they took down a service record in their computer, as I can't find the receipt, so I'm takin' her in on Monday to be sent to Roland....hopefully they fix me up. Thanks for your guys' input.

I don't know if it depends on where you are in the world, but when I registered my 404 with Roland UK, I got a written warranty in the post for 3 years.

Not spilled liquid on the pads at any time have you? Coffee, beer, cola etc - all lethal and a sure sign is that some buttons don't work and some do things they shouldn't.

Anyway, hope you get the machine back ok. Roland service centres are usually pretty good.

I'm in the US and I didn't fill out my warranty within the first year so I'm pretty sure it's void...but I never spilt anything on it and put little use into it. Thankfully the place I got it from has some cool people that were willing to send it to Roland for free. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed...
