At 9:00 the room was pretty much empty, while the local DJ was mixing some pretty tight Stones Throw shit. Madlib and J. Rocc were supposed to come on at 10:00, but as expected they didn't come at that time. I talked with a few other guys, and I met someone who came all the way from Atlanta just to see Madlib. We made sure we had the best spots in the front row by staying there the whole time. We were talking a bit when I suddenly see a familiar face: Egon. Then I knew they were coming. At 11:00, J. Rocc suddenly appears out of nowhere and starts off with some classic Beat Junkies shit. The guy's crazy, his beat-juggling skills are off the hook. The crowd went wild when he juggled with Ying-Yang Twin's Shake. He did a lot of Dilla Beats, too, Which were rocked. Egon comes out from behind the curtains again with a stack of CDs and places them next to the CDJs.
That's when Madlib comes out from behind the curtains. He couldn't beat-juggle or mix as well as J. Rocc, but he did do some scratching, which I haven't seen him ever do. He showed us a lot of new beats I haden't heard before, and [to my request
Later he also started beatboxing...shit was crazy. I had to leave at about 2:00, though, I wish I could've stayed 'til the end. I also mentioned the SP-Forums in my letter, yo.
That was the best and first concert of my life.
I just thought I should share this experience with the SP famm
Shit was on fire.
