Trouble with Midi
honestly, ive read the midi guide on here multiple times, plugged my sp 404 into the midi output of my interface and selected channel one as it booted up then selected channel 1 on my fireface interface in logic pro 8. but as i press the pads absolutely no sounds come out. How can I make it so i can manually trigger the pads in the external midi track i have and actually get a sound. PLEASE PLEASE HELP
Re: Trouble with Midi
maybe you have to post this in the sp-404 tips and tricks section...
anyway until now i didn't use it with midi, but i used the sp-303 with midi and i was not so difficult. the first important thing was to set the machine in auto mode. with this i was able to controll the patterns from an external machine.
good luck

Umm.. what exactly are you trying to do?
It sounds like you have things backwards, or are under the impression that sound travels through midi cables. or both.

Re: Trouble with Midi
ok then how would i have things backwards
Re: Trouble with Midi
you have midi out from your interface, going to midi in on your 404,
yet from the sounds of things you're pressing the 404 pads and expecting something to happen....
midi IN plug on the 404 means it accepts incoming messages. It doesnt send out any messages when you press the 404 pads.

Re: Trouble with Midi
ok thanks for informing me yo, so how do i make it so i can use the samples ive recordedonto my 404 in logic 8. do i have to use my interface?
Re: Trouble with Midi
you gotta plug the audio output of the sp-404 into the audio input on your computer/audio interface.
then setup the audio inputs in logic on a track that can take audio in.
