Bangin' out beats while resampling :D

Post by Lezlie »

So I'm just starting up with my SP, and as I was hoping it is possible to play a beat in realtime while resampling. Very nice! :D
What a cool unit 8)

yeah to a certain extent record a pad performance. i dont remeber the full extent of that but that is one of the cool features about it. itll tell you in the manual under resampling. if you dont have one, check out rolands website for one. have FUN :D

Yeah, I guess I should take a look in the manual (although I try to avoid manuals a much as possible, hehe).
Fortunately I did take a look before powering down the unit after I noticed the 'shutdown' button ;)

i remember that the 606 got the cool feature of metronome "as always": so you can resample your pad performance in time with the tempo you want.

Amazing! I was just thinking about how useful that would be. Thanks for confirming, now I'll be bangin' out beats all night! :D

yes and the sp-303 and 505 too...
anyway is the only regret i have with the sp-606.
is simple to use this function: you work and resample your beat at the right tempo and after you trim and cut if necessary.
with the other sp-machines an external metronome is necessary (don't know for the 555, the 808 and the 202 indeed).

SP606 is a freak, I just wish I can resample patterns into a sample. Then I'll truly be unstoppable!

Oh yeah, that would be awesome. My guess is that Roland will release a follow-up to the SP-606, maybe the 707, within the next year. The 404 and 555 are not really follow-ups, more improved versions of the smaller units. But since the 555 can resample whole patterns, the upgrade from the 606 definately will too.

At least those are my thoughts on the subject ;)

i think that the only sp capable of this is the sp-555.

Most likely the 707 will have it, if its under development. My guess a 656 will come out soon too. But damn that LED screen on the 555, dope machine nonetheless.

Really, can the SP-555 do that?? Sweet. I didn't realize it could resample whole patterns. Probably by using the Loop Capture?

I do agree though that the follow-up to the 606 or 505 might be announced quite soon. I definitely hope so!

I am very much digging my MV8800 (which by the way can easily sample entire patterns or songs by 'bouncing' audio to an audio track) and won't sell it anytime soon, but it would be neat to have a smaller sampler for live gigs and just for fun.

Lol, if I would have money to burn, I'd probably already have copped an extra SP-606 or SP-404. 8)
