Thanks man. I just started making beats in January. So far I have an SP 404 and I use Ableton from time to time at my cousin's house. I really want to make Experimental Hip Hop. Do you think if I get a synth it could add more power? Stuff I really like, for instance, is The Brainfeeder crew.

adding a synth will definitley put u there. most ppl here have microkorgs and can attest to them, like jmoki and i as well. they require some effort to freak but if u got the patience, itll pay off. rockin the minimalist approach will get you even further with your beats as well. i use a sp606(outta commishion at the moment) an MK and most recently an mpc2kxl and thats it. the rest is in your mind

if you use the computer , also a midi keyboard with some vsti is not a bad idea.
the track remeber me some company flow/cannibal ox/el-p things. not bad.

I can say tho, with the sound you described, brainfeeder etc...a synth will help you achive it...the same thing happened for me, my early stuff was more conventional...but since I got the mk I have started to get closer to the sound i want.. I mean check the diffrence between murder mystery from the skelten crew mixtape and the newer stuff on my myspace to illustrate the point....

also man, like niq names said dont be afraid to post stuff, people here arnt gonna shoot you down..
