Hi there bossmates, I have two tiny questions on my 404.

First of all, I consider it one of my best buys ever (the second one being my beloved micro BR).

1) I bought it used and the pads seem to be a little hard to press when compared to my sp 505. I don't know if this is the model's feature or there's a problem with it. So my question is, is there a way i can buy new pads for my SP?

2) I have read somewhere that you can apply one effect to more than one samples. Is this true? I could only apply an effect to one sample pad.

Thank you for your patience 8)

1. I'm new to this, too, so I can't compare 404-pads with 505-pads. Mine seem fine.

2. Hold REMAIN and press the pads that you want to have effects.

Hope that helped, man, and happy...pressing pads.

also if you hold remain and then tap the effect pad, it applies the effect to all pads

Here's the manual, it's definite must read. As far as the pads go you can contact Roland, I'm sure they'll sell you some new ones.

I had the 404 for about 6 months and tried out the 606 too....the 404 pads are harder on the rubber side as well as on the hit ...hey but that´s 404 style 8)

The 404 pads really aren't that bad in my opinion.

505s definitely have softer pads than the 404

Is the softness of pads really that important?

i used a 606 once. i would pay to get those pads on my 404. very responsive. my 404 pads are kind of clunky but i guess if i had a problem with them i would have brought it up long ago...
