I still don't see what the 303 has and the 404 doesn't?

quantize is different, internal ad/da conversion is different -> both are more like the sp505.

just got mine friday after about 7 moths with my 404 and i gotta say, sound is on point, filter sweeps way better, i like vinyl sim more, but you gotta use it in slightly a different way, can't really just crank it all the time like on the 404 esp on drums, and the pads feel like a dream, i haven't gotten to really cut and and sequence on it yet but i'm lookin forward to slammin those pads.....

one thing that caught me though was when i tried to sample this 4 bar loop onto the internal along with a drum loop of the same length i had sequenced up underneath it on my 404 a while ago when i first made the beat, ripped it from a tape deck cause i did a solo break of the drums somewhere in the beat and had deleted the original sequence, just so i could hear how shit sounded on it (i was short on time), and those two things alone filled up the internal, hella quick, glad my joint came with a SM card to open up those extra banks, plus that shit is pretty slow compared to the 404, but i like havin times set out for me to take fat bong rips

thanx for posting this document! it's interesting to see different producers, from hiphop to electronica to soul to house, and their different point of view...
tom middelton and mark pritchard '90 things are very interesting and also philippe zdar things (cassius)...sa ra cool sounds too...steinsky also...

for the sp-303/404 discussion...i have both, and an sp-505 too...they sound different...i prefer the 303, but the 505 it's really dope for its own functions. the 404 still i don't have tried very very much as them. but is well equiped too (but i don't like its pads).
