Resampling?

do the sp-202 make resampling? if not how do you apply fx or pitch to samples? it's only for live things?

No resampling on the 202. You can repitch samples and add 1 additional effect tho. Also, you can't apply pitch to a live input (source). So basically, you'd need to record it down to something, then sample it again. The 202 is very minimal, but raw!

it has a way diferent feel, it has a sort of tinny sound to it with an alias buzz, but its unique, I think it also slows the sample down and speeds it up aswell . which is cool. all the fx are diferent from other sp's . well they all sound different. the machine itself has a very unique lofi sound, that would take lots of resampling in lofi on other sp's to acheive and it still wont compare to the true 202 sound. peace.

so the pitch is more in an old school way...this is interesting. i'm always intriguing in trying this machine.

i think the 202 uses some smartmedia type hard (and expensive) to find...

i found a good deal on a 202 today. but i need to know, can you export to the card and import to a computer with a card reader?

as for the 303 i think that you can export only SP files; i don't know if you can import .wav files.

We all know the 202 has a killer low-end filter. Find a sample with an ill and audible bassline. Put it on one pad. Put the same sample on a pad right next to it (using the Mark Button and setting the BPM prior to recording the second sample comes in handy here). Apply the low-end to one of the pads and tweak till the high-end frequencies have been eliminated to your preference and bang! Works like a primitive resampling feature if used correctly. When I turn my 202 on/off it retains the settings which is a quirky feature I appreciate.

A pretty simple trick that most 202 users probably have figured out and have been using but I thought I'd put it out there.

I also used to re-sample by recording my effected sample to cassette or mini-disc and throwing it back in the 202. Quite a process but that's how it was done in 1998!

i used to make that process with the akai remix16 in 1996.
now i'm back on cassette power, i missed their sound.
i record track (or little portions) into 4tracks or 1track recorders and then i record back to pc in order to clean hiss and noise (when it's necessary); then i export files to my sp303 or st224 (i never had a floppy disc reader for the remix16, but i'm considering to buy some usb/floppy reader by the way) to rework samples and give that warmt they need...

and when i'm in a record shop (or some used thing store) i always ask (recorded) cassettes to buy: they think i'm a sort of freak or maniac...

Ella, the same thing happened to me!! There is this corner store up the street from my apartment and in there I found 14 or 15 blank Maxell UR's. When I took them up to the register the guy asked me, "What are you going to do with these? These are old!"

I have a TDK usb powered floppy drive. It has been sitting in my garage for the past 8 years but still works, surprisingly.
