404 price...

Post by John P »

I got mine for 395.
I can't believe they would be on ebay for under a 100. Seems impossible. Maybe used and f-cked up for 100. I'd rather have a new one for 395.

I can't find them under 100 bugs on e-bay. Are you sure?

I bought mine from a official music store here, for just 300 dollar.
They are cheaper in Europe :).

I got mine for ~$280 on eBay.

Apparently, that's the same with the 606 (as far as price is concerned). I've seen some that are within 2-3 days to the close of the auction and still they're only at a fraction of the cost of a brand new one.

EDIT: Eh, what do I know? The final bid may possibly shoot up even higher than that come closing.

umm, i have a black one... you take off the four screws and the top's black plastic. i'm not crazy about the silver top, so i took mine off to paint it and i'm such a slacker it's been off ever since. looks pretty good actually, though a bit cheaper than with the metal top. the paint job's going pretty well, i'll post pics when it's done if anyone's interested. the only real disadvantage to removing the top (as long as you know how to use it pretty well) is the guide to the mfxs is missing so you have to memorize the one's you like. helps you learn it though really.

i do remember seeing *somewhere* online you can buy diff. coloured faceplates. . yellow, blue, black, etc. . all looked pretty ugly though haha unless you want your 404 to look like a bright yellow piece of diving equipment
