Creativity and psychoses

Post by hurlingdervish »

http://www.personalityresearch.org/papers/byrd.html

a good read though you may have to google some terms (Axis 1= depression/anxiety disorder)

the title says creative geniuses but its more about just the creative personality type in general

yea there are lame parts but if you read on,

they talk about how highly creative people can be smarter than most people because everytime they look at something it is percieved differently

in sampling

you buy a record to sample 2 years ago and dont find anything you like now you listen again and find a bunch of samples you didnt hear the first time.
alot of people once they decide something, they cannot change their mind, they would hear the record once and be done with it

I don't think I could make a beat on mushrooms, acid maybe.

I'm "teaching" my friend not to have that "I listened a couple years ago I won't like it now" mentality. I got him to successfully love Sittin' On Chrome a day after he said it was utter shit.

Nah man, it may seem flawed, but it makes a lot of sense... after all from a more or less objective scientific perspective on human psychology there's obviously no such thing as a plausible alien abductee theory. Has there ever been someone who's been able to prove abductee claims? Sadly, nope.

This practical creativity definitely gives a person a big advantage, but technically it doesn't really mean those people are smarter, just more inventive and better able to deal with certain situations.

I'm thinking the same is true for people with huge social and communicative skills. It doesn't make them smarter, but they definitely can be perceived as being smarter. In reality they just have a better sense of what to say at what time, their creativity can be found in their small talk and anecdotes. There's more to the whole IQ thing than most people are usually aware of. But I'm guessing this all is rather obvious to all people in here.

I disagree with the easy dismissal, but that's as much as I'll say about it.
