Sampling while playing?

I've got a 404, and the worse thing about it is the inability to record while playing a sample/pattern.

Can the 505 do this?

I want to be able to play several samples at once, and record layers.

the 555 doesn't either?

the 555 does this with loop capture.

see your instruction manual about rephrasing a sample. Basically, when you record a sample you can trigger an existing pad while doing it. So, if you have sounds recorded to other pads, you should be able to appropriately trigger them while the thing plays. An easier way would be to open up a rec. program and drop each sample on a different track, then you can arrange them as desired without the pain of timing them.
