So I was given a 404... but it's missing a power supply. I noticed the replacement power supplies run around 50 bones. Does anyone know of a 3rd party brand that works with the 404 (something decent).
Tried searching this section, maybe I'm retarded but nothing came up. Seems like this would have already been asked.
Also. I might be selling this 404 in the very near future, after I check it out to see if everything is in working order for a really good price, so be on the lookout for that. Just have to check it out.

go to yer local electronics store,
get a power supply with
input: 110V AC (thats ur voltage in america rite? or 120. something round there.)
output: 9V DC . It doesn't matter about quality of it really, they're all pretty reasonable, and because the 404 is made to run off batteries which have very variable performance, it should be able to handle even a dodgy power supply. Just make sure its 9V DC and not 9V AC.. that would be bad
For amps/current output: -
If you can check out the specs of the roland 404 power supplies then get one that matches that.
If you can't get one with the exact current/amp supply - More is better than less for amps, cos its more a case of - the device will only draw what it needs. So you could run a 404 off like a 500000 amp power supply fine, but a 500mA one might not be able to provide the juice it needs.
it should come with a set of different sized plugs that clip onto it to fit it in different devices..
*important:*
make sure you get the tip/ring polarity right when ur plugging the interchangeable head bit onto the power supply...
I think it says on the back of the 404 therell be a little picture showing what polarity the tip needs to be.. looks kinda like

except if the o was inside the middle of the C
the C bit is the ring, the o bit is the tip, and there should be at least a + or - on there somewhere telling you which is which! The dashes on either side just represent the wire that goes to the ring and the wire that goes to the tip.
If you get it backwards you can do some serious damage to your 404 so make sure!
