ableton live 8 is supporting it soon it'd be nice to get into before then

Haven't heard of it, is it some advanced synthesis software?

yeah, it's more or less a modular programing environment for audio processing/synthesis. when you get down to it if you have enough computing power an know how you can make it do whatever you can imagine to your audio. I haven't messed with it but i have a nord micro modular which has some overlap in concept. ish is cool, but time consuming. max for live looks really dope though, seems like it will be a more user friendly interface and obviously the integration into live is huge. you'll be able to design your own custom synths, samplers, effects and sequencers and drop them right into live 8.

i've been long intrigued by max/msp and reaktor, but the learning curve and time investment has always intimidated me.

what i really want though is a nord G2, i love my micro modular, but if it had a little bit of ram for some proper delay/reverb efx and could send midi out i would be in heaven. too bad there will never me a micro g2, that + 404/303 would be the ultimate portable power set-up.

that shit is definitely real intimidating, i had a 30 day trial and made a real simple sampler that i had to load wav files in could trigger em with my keyboard cause i had no pads at the time, there are so many commands you can call out, if you ever use it, the easiest way is to just type in a few letters and see what comes up for a suggestion, open it and open the help file about what that command is, and you'll pick up on stuff real quick, it could be amazing for organizing and doing a sick live set

the one good thing (tho there are many) about max/msp is that there are tons of patches to learn from. You really don't have to build it all from scratch in order to learn how things work. Kinda like reaktor. That being said, it can be intimidating. I find max makes more sense tho than reaktor. Also there is pd (puredata), which is essentially the open source version of max. It was written by the original max creator.

The biggest tho drawback is you could easily end up spending all your time coding... instead of actually making music. :/ It's counter SP... matter anti matter type shit... lol.

yea it seems time consuming... it reminds me of oldschool synths though you need to know how to route things to get the sound you want. furthermore it seems more complex than what im learning in a digital circuits engineering class...
as for the "counter sp" i think it would work pro-sp just because of all the ridiculous noises you could make on accident.

I should adjust that statement. ;) I meant counter-sp in that the sp is dead simple while max is hella technical. But if you can imagine it, and have the skill set, you can probably pretty much build it in max. Also, if you know any programming languages, it makes max/msp a lot easier to grasp. It's all object oriented.
