SP555 weirdness when taking sync from external source
Howdy people, first post on the forum, so hello from the South West of England. Has anyone come across a weird clipping sound when applying the delay to samples whilst running a pattern synced from an external sequencer? I use a Dave Smith Evolver to control the tempo of the SP555 (tempo can be saved per patch on the EVO so I don't have to worry about adjusting tempos between tunes). But as soon as I apply the DELAY effect to a sample, this weird rhythmic clipping sound appears. It carries on even after I stop the pattern - either by pressing cancel on the SP or "stop" on the EVO. Even stranger, it stops as soon as I unplug the midi cable from the SP!! Any ideas, people?? Thx AR.
Noise? It's supposed to sound like that...

I think it has to do with the SP trying to sync the delay with the external time code... not sure what the work around is tho... tape echo would probably work without the weirdness, but there should be a way to override or change the setting for the delay effect. Might be something in the manual for external midi and effects syncing. I remember having a similar problem when syncing from my 8 track.
