PORTABLE SPEAKERS

Post by sky loopwalker »

i searched for a moment in the net for some sort of portable, battery powered speaker, so that i can bring my sp tu the park and blast some beats live, are there some portable speaker model that can go with the sp? or maybe some way to hook up a regular speaker to let's say a car battery or something like that? :D

I'm a HUGE fan of boomboxes with RCA inputs (aux in- or whatever)
ya don't see them on a lot of new ones- but if you check thrift stores and people over the age of 30's junk closets you can cop one- I bought one off my boy for 5$- best boom box ever- takes 6 D's.

Other than that I'm sure you could walk out of BestBuy with something cheap that'd get the job done.

Haha me too. I bought this radio transmitter for $15 or so and it works great. You don't have to have a line in in your boombox and in some cases it saves batteries as some boxes require the tape deck to be recording (or fake recording at least) to hear the line in sound.

Also with this radio transmitter thingy you can ask your friends to bring their radios/boomboxes and you could blast them all with the sound coming from one source. I've tried this with two biggish boxes myself.

one of my favorite hip-hop songs from the past few years, he kills it a lot harder live though.

Follow the nose that always knows?

Nah, I just like cool shit, strong google-fu doesn't hurt. This boom box in particular I found while on a crusade to put together a nice minimalist hardware setup. A ghetto blaster seemed like the best choice for speakers/recording to tape. That one popped up in one of my searches. If it also had a tape deck or supported direct recording to the iPod then I'd have bought it already.

(still on that crusade though)

I just picked up a crate profiler 5 battery powered (or AC) amp/speakerboxx $50 at Guitar Center. It has built in effects which are fun to play with, but the batteries (6AAs) aren't lasting as long as I need them too. I'll have to do a test I don't want to post disinfo; one solution might be to build a battery pack of say 6Cs and bolt it on there somehow cause of course the output would be the same, 1.2 (rechargables) x 6 = 7.2V. It would make it look rawer too. =)
