Ok so there are a lot of sites out there where you can put your music, and each one has special perks of what you can do with your music. Out of these sites, which do you guys use/think is better? Minus the Myspace. Everyone and there ferret uses that. I have a soundclick account but find it very boring and am not motivated to keep it updated, unless there is something that I am missing. I also have a rocbattle account, but that was fun for about a week and then I lost interest. That site is not a community site or site in general for connoisseurs. Its more of an "i am better than you, let me get paid" Site. I found out about soundcloud and bandcamp a lil while back and was trying to decide which I liked better, or if I should sign up at all to either. Soundcloud had some nice features, but bandcamp looks like it does so much more for you. What do you guys think? Thanks

Just found this one. It looks promising!!!

What is it that makes you choose soundcloud?

I think it has the best interface and layout,
less ads

plus most of the people I know use it.

bandcamp kind of limits itself, by name.. An electronic music producer will be less likely to join because of the name, and so the community of producers there will end up skewed towards 'band' type music - which I am not interested in at all.

I can see where you are coming from. But most websites that are music based say "band" i.e. myspace, soundclick, etc. I watched the vid for bandcamp and I like the way you can set prices if you want or let people choose prices for your tracks, they keep all metadata and album art embedded in the file no matter which format a person chooses to download, the sats page is phat, and the way you can send out all your music is awesome. As for soundcloud, I can see big collaborations happening when you send someone a beat, and they can comment on the exact spot and tell you what needs fixing or what should go there. That is insane. I dunno maybe I will just sign up for all of them and then delete accounts accordingly.

Has anyone else noticed that since my_ changed their player that the encoding quality got super-awful. Like... I know your mp3s always got dumbed down a little bit when you upload to a mass site, but I swear anything uploaded to my_ from starting like 2 weeks ago- sounds like some 16kbps shit- c r u n c h y

Oh & by the way here are some other mu-sites that folks be using:

http://www.imeem.com/ (ill for dancehall Reggae)
http://www.reverbnation.com/ (Reverb Nation actually has some good benefits, useful widgets & services- like press kits & mailing list help.

Have you considered thesixtyone.com? I tend to post stuff there and to myspace. The interface is hella clean, and the concept is way different than most sites (it's more about listeners discovering artists). Also they have a persistent player which keeps the track going while you search elsewhere on the site.

Beyond that, soundcloud is cool. The free account is kinda limited but def usable. I like the comment system. I'd use it, but for whatever reason it's blocked here at work (wack).

this is what my sixtyone page looks like...

sixtyone.com looks pretty nice. i mainly use soundclick just cuz it's the oldest account i have. that said i got a page just about everywhere i can put one: bandcamp, amiestreet, isound, myspace, virb, soundcloud, etc.

i still prefer soundclick, no limits to the number of tracks/artists you can have. the ads and sheer amount of wannabe lil jon beats the site is saturated with does suck ass though. i really like amiestreet.com too, i've actually sold a few tracks on there.

there are some really good choices. If I knew how to make websites and all that crap, I would combine all the best elements from each site into my own. But I dont know anything like that. I just know audio.

If you wanna make your own site very easily I'd recommend a free blogger account. Lot's of people use Blogpsot and Wordpress- and I've been hearing a lot of great things about Tumblr.com
Basically these sites do all the coding for you and make it really easy to drop videos and music into them- you can start out with some templates then get more advanced as you learn more.

You can always register a domain name (very cheap), then 'point' the domain to the free blog so the URL will be your .com

Nice Sox opener yesterday~

i saw soundcloud, it has good design but the fact that you see the "wave" when you listen to music it take away the surprise...you can guess the variatios, the solos etc and stuff like that...
