Just look for DJ software that can run as a plugin or is Rewire compatible. Then you can just open it in your regular host/DAW/whatever.

Yeah, what he said and in that case you could go with the near-free Reaper DAW. Works a charm for me, didn't cost me much.

if you get a mac you can use Jack to route the audio between software apps, even if they dont support rewire

I'm sure there'd be something similar for PC too

what should i know before buying the laptop? i know i want windows xp or vista (not a macbook because i know how to function windows like a charm) but like proccessor and ram and all that tech junk if i only want to use it for music, school, and internet (no games)
