Exporting Inquiries

Ohayo, i'm new to the sp-404 (and to forums as well...) and was wondering...

when you export your patterns, do they retain the effects put on them?

and it is possible to export patterns right?

my apologies for the seemingly antiquated question, but help is greatly appreciated

hey welcome.

not shure why you would want to export patterns.

when you make a beat on a pattern you have to record it to the computer after.

i think the 404 can back patterns up, but they will be useless in anything other then a 404.

you can export samples very easy.

and import samples easy.

please explain more what you mean by exporting patterns.

You'd have to record your pattern an external recording device. You can back up pattern data using a CF card and a card reader with your computer so you can load it into you sampler later and rearrange you beat etc.

I bounce my patterns onto my boss 8 track using rca to line input from there i can tinker with it a little/lot , then either use my card reader or usb to send it to computer

yup, they are all right, i would say your best bet is to record out to something, then record the whole beat back into one pad then export that to card, because you can export sample pads, but you can't export a pattern, it pretty much is just information saying on when to hit what pads when, it really doesn't contain any audio info, but if you don't have a card reader (or a cf card for that matter) then your going to have to find a way to export to something you can directly play (to tape, to your comp, maybe to some sort of cd burner)

One more question though, just a precautionary thing: any kind of multitrack recorder will do as long as i have the right cables right? like a four track multitrack recorder?

most definitely, i think alot of people on here go out to multitrack and then back into the box, even if its just for one track (although you can split your beats into different tracks now too if you want), then when your done rip it all back into the box and use some effects if you want, then export and you got the wav file on your comp
