Well everytime I try to upload anything with my 404 by recording the sounce on audacity, I get a shitload of static on my beats. Im using a basic rca to 3.5mm jack wires and plugging it into my line/mic in slot. I don t fully understand the noise removal tool seeing that I think I only have the beta version of audacity. Please help me with this. I really wanna show you guys what I've been working on :)

turn down the output of the 404 or mixer. also if you are plugging right into you computer through the mic input its going to sound like crap.

noise removal tool isnt as useful as you think its more for when theres a break inbetween sounds and you hear a hiss.

you could use an audio interface they go for 100-200 bucks. they plug in through the usb port on your computer. it will DRASTICALLY improve your sound. if you feel like youll be making beats for a long time pick one up

also remember it's easy to increase the volume of a low but clean recording. but next to impossible to clean up a loud raunchy recording.

You can get a really cheap audio interface at target for like 40-60 bucks. It is far from great but will improve your sound and will teach you the basics. Also you could have a shitty cable. i have a gazillion cables and some are crap and sound crap while trying another one makes it sound good. Try another cable as well. good luck.

A lot of computers only have a mic input - but if you dig in, there may be a way of switching it into a "stereo line-in" mode. This makes it act just like the record input jacks in a hi-fi tape deck. Or, maybe you already have a dedicated line-in socket but you will have to switch the computer to record from that instead of the mic.

It can be different depending on your computer but try right-clicking on the volume control icon on the taskbar. Dig into the properties to show the record device controls. This link shows the kind of thing on a Windows PC...

Good luck
