I was wondering what do you guys find most effective for recording your SPs.

I've been looking into the VS 1680 by Roland. The only reason I want to get one is to get away from my computer. But have you guys had good luck with these things?

i used to work with a digital 8 track. i dont see the difference between having a mini computer on a digital 8 track with a tiny ass screen and working with a program made for recording other than frustration factor. it all gets converted to 1's and 0's anyway unless you record to tape or vinyl.

yeah man, don't go that route, plenty of great interfaces for cheap and when something better comes out, you're not stuck to some outdated box..I used to have a yamaha recorder 16 something wtih motorized faders etc. and I was sooo happy when I got rid of it and started using a DAW....

cubase, protools, reaper, logic will all serve you better than one of those boxes..not that you can't make good music WITH one, of course you can, but if you're just starting out that's not the route i'd suggest unless you got one super cheap
