i discover something that i didn't knew before, totaly by hazard.
i played with my pc a vsti synth to my sp-505 when this one was playing a pattern: the synth was automatically gated and synced in time with the pattern! how is it possible? it's great indeed!
i just noticed that the "ext source" blinks only for one 1/4 at a determined place. don't know how technically goes, but it's like that: is not the beginning of the pattern; that pattern is 2 measures long and the "blinking Ext Source" happens at measures 1:4, and that's how we ear the incoming sound from the vsti until measures 2:1...
i have connected midi cables from sp-505 to my tascam recorder but i don't know how this can influence this stuff...
thats because you have recorded the external source button as a note into the sequencer (on/off) so as you play the pattern and when it reaches the note which activates or deactivates the external sound signal you hear the difference.

is just an english form of talking? i mean i haven't recorded the external ssource (i don't even know that it could be done). so we can drive this thing with sp-505? how does it works?

you can also quanitize the ext source, this is cool for scratching.
and something you can't do with a sp 404. record ext source while resampling. why they dont have it on the 404 is beyond me, its the most usefull feture ever for multi tracking.
you say that we can resample and add another sound with external source in order to have a pad composed by the resampling+this "external source" sound? this could be great!

maybe is the technique with wich we record the ext source by manually "slicing" the incoming sound a little i mean making a "roll" or a "flam" with it...

what i do for scractching is, practice for a bit to get some timing down.
then record the ext source flickers ( gated ) into the sequencer to go to the beat, now when you scratch you dont have to tap ext source to cut the signal in and out. you just have to scratch, it gets a bit repetetive, but you can also use slicer for scratching, in combination with ext source.
