alot of people have complained about the tempo adjust on the sp series, and how the loops drift apart. well back in the day there was a man named Steve Reich who built his composing/sampling career doing just that with tape loops

heres his take on piano (its long but it will put you in a trance)

and his take on vocal samples

uuhg, piano phases?? i've heard that piece in my classes way too many times, its gotten to be obnoxious to me, i don't mind the minimalist movement and other reich pieces (or others; terry riley, morton feldman, etc), i've spent a few years now exposed to it along with serialism and chance music, and any other wierd avant garde music that began to emerge in the early 20th century, but piano phases has always been the goto piece for when we start minimalism, i've had to listen to it too many times, and was even forced to struggle to try and play some of it before too, i'd much rather hear the original sample by reich for the beginning of america's most blunted (just kidding, that track gets old real quick too)

hahaha, just attempt to, i played the steady and my teacher started to shift, it was so hard though, cause the way you play the row he has phasing is really confusing for the fingers for somebody who doesn't spend much time playing piano and i kept fucking it up, and then when i didn't, i would when he started to shift, i think we went maybe like a minute tops at our best run
