Hi people. I'm on a search for a sampler that can take the place of my Boss dr202 . I use this not for the onboard sounds but to sequence my dmpro. For those that are not familiar with the dr202 it has 3 tracks, drums, bass and external. A seperate midi channel can be selected for each track.
I use the boss' drum channel which i select to midi ch10 w/internal sounds turned (off) to sequence the dmpro sounds, which keeps the bass and external tracks open.
I'm a bit confused from seeing some of the samplers here that have a 4 track or 4 part sequencer. sp-808, sp-606? Are they same as on the dr202? Selectable midi channels?
I would like to find a sampler that will let me sequence samples and the dmpro drum sounds in the same pattern.
Are there any samplers you would suggest? Or should I keep the dr202 and use the external part for the sampler, like it is intended.
Thanks for any help. I do appreciate it
Frank

simple answer: get an sp- 404 it will make a great cheap sampler with loads of sampling memory to go together with your existing dr-202.

thanks for the tip. I'm finding that the sequencer on the dr202 is the best for needs..and I already have it.
I'll take a look in the 404 section.
On the 404, I would use the dr202 to sequence the samples? from the dr202 pads?
ah..newbies, you gotta love em eh?
thanks

I have no clue about the 202...try the 202 tips`n´trix section.

I use my MC-505 as the sequencer

202 doesn't have any kind of sequencer in it. it's just plain basic limited gritty ole skuul sampler. :)

well in order to use both at the same time on midi (the 404 only has a midi in) u need a sequencer...so both gadgets can be used as 1...well that´s how I do it. i use my MC and SP together as 1...beats from the SP and synthsounds from the MC. "Midi out" on the MC and "Midi in" on the SP

He has a DR 202 not a SP202. The dr groove 202 has a sequencer the SP does not. It seems people are a little confused. I'd say to get a SP404 to go along with the 202. For some reason the prices for a 303 have gotten way jacked up lately and it's almost cheaper to get the 404. Plus with the 404 you won't have to worry about smartmedia cards.

Actually, 2Gb cards and less capacity aren't being made anymore.. all that's left are some in stock, but they are running out faster than I can visit shops, lol.

I really hope the next MC-x0x and SP-x0x both will have a nice harddisk instead. :?

Hey thanks for all the replies. Yes, the dr 202 is a drum and bass machine and has a really cool sequencer (imho)...very easy to use.
Now that I have been looking around the forum. I am very tempted by the sp-555, the possiblities look amazing. Using the 555 exclusively I would sacrifice outputs but I think creatively, I would have more playing time and less programming...If that makes sense to anyone.
