Novation NIO

Post by HomeMadeInstrumentals »

hello boys n girls. Havent been through here in a while. sorta let the 404 gather dust over the last few months....because i been concentrating on my electro production, plus without any real audio interface into my computer its all been a bit pointless.
till now.
im thinkin about gettin this piece --> http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar08/a ... ionnio.htm
What u al think about that? to record the beats from the 404 to the pc. im not lookin to shell out more then 400 aud at the moment, and this thing is lookin ace. anybody had experience with it? im ordering it probs tonight, so ill report on what i think of it when it hits my doorstep ;)
expect some beats up here once i get it.....hopefully of far better sound quality then what i started out with!

cheers.

For the price that thing looks awesome to me, plus with focusrite as the parent company it should be good quality too. I wouldn't mind having one of those myself.

How much is it? I got my presonus firepod (fp10) for 350 new and it kicks a lot of ass, plus 8 pres and firewire. The effects on that look good, do you already have a daw of choice?

yeh mano, you mean like what software id be using with it right?
At the moment, its Ableton, as its editing power is amaizing, and is the other half of my musicial arsinal (the first being the 404 ;) ). Though i understand the sound quality of Ableton is fair shit compared to a lot of other software out there, i may move to something else in the near future - ie. logic if i get a mac, or maybe cubase (how is the sound quality of cubase?).
Ultimately, my plan is to make the skaletal beginnings of tracks on the 404, and add a lot of synth layers over it, ala Flying Lotus. This also means getting a synth somewhere along the track. when i can afford it. when i become a globetrotting world dj slash producer with pimps and ho's and 20' rims and coke on my nose and all the fun shit everywhere.
