http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=43463727

i've actually never thought of making music 4 money, nothing beyond daydreaming anyhow. what do you think? should I give them a call? they said they want to represent me an are looking into my type of music. i guess i should act fast if i'm gonna do this. so what do my friends here think?

if i ever sold anything i would do it on my own terms with my own contract with my own contacts. keep it local and spread the seed slowly... hard work will pay off

Don't get got homie, pretty much everyone on myspace including myself are unsavory characters. I've had people ask me to sell beats online and I always tell them I don't sell beats, I work with other artists. I guess I'm just trying to say be careful with who you trust, especially when money is supposed to be involved.

I don't mean to rain on your parade (I ain't f******g Duffy) but these online A&R scouts all look pretty shady to say the least. I'm pretty sure that everyone who has dropped a few beats on myspacesoundclickfacebook sooner or later recieves an email from one of these bigwig managers who think you're the shizz...

i wasn't having a parade just yet yo, so no worries. oh and duffy makes wanna hurl, i'll take winehouse over that D-va any day.

thanks for all the feedback, IIIII you're advice seems like the direction I was already heading anyway.

one question though, how do you guys sell your music online? I know some of you do. It7s not really for the money but for nods right?

You're getting scammed with those folks 9/10 times.

I've actually also got a couple of mails from them as well on my soundclick account and they did not even bother to check out whether I ever performed live or checked my music out for that matter (I'm talking my earliest work on my soundclick page that really is not good at all, but still there for archive purposes) and so on.

It's basically just another way for them to make money of your music.

There's usually nothing in it for you, except 'free publicity' and most likely a few gigs. Meaning if you're in it for fun, by all means go ahead, but be careful of signing any shady contracts.

seriously, think about the music industry NOW...there are almost 0 opportunities to get "signed" and get a bunch of money, as was the dream in the early 90's...even great established artists are having to ghost write and take other avenues to really get paid (ie Joe Budden, Royce 5'9", etc.)

YOU can still make money, but that involves marketing yourself, getting on Itunes and other digital retailers and making yourself appealing enough to land a "distribution deal" which is way different than the "record contracts" people nowaays dream about. Most of all making good music that will guarantee your fanbase will grow and support you...and hey, go to some shows and slang your merch
