Now that is a list... I have alot of them...and have heard most of them...but there are a few on there I have not heard of. ...like Chino XL and Casual.

I mean to be honest there are a million underground albums that you can get which were recorded on four track or shitty equiptment that are LO-FI. But up above are some LO-FI albums of recent that are pretty dope for the Gritty Factor of it.

Anybody have any of the Greenthink stuff?

"Greenthink were a group of hip-hop musicians and rappers. The group included the rappers why? and Doseone (of anticon. and cLOUDDEAD), although many other artists contributed to varying degrees. The group, which no longer records, produced two albums, Blindfold and It's Not Easy Being Green."

I think I might have a lot of that anticon stuff but I will never admit it 'cause that would make me a white backpacker nerd who's not keeping it 'real' in the 'game'. Oops that just sounds like me... :lol:

I have alot of anticon...and don't like most of it... but do like dose one and cLOUDDEAD...so I was curious of greenthink. I could care less about the current state of hip-hop... I'd rather be white and nerdy, which I am, than a fake tough guy who mimicks everyone else in order to cash in.

Chino's album is crazy dark and bugged out production wise and quite sick lyrically. Casual's from the heiro crew and 'fear itself' is probably the peak of their efforts.

thanks for that list conceit never heard of most of those. Definitely gonna be checking for "the reavers"

selfish.. there was a track either you or fluent posted on mpc-forums, it was the first track i've heard from your collaboration together
i cant remember the name of it but i want to hear it again so badly (dont worry i will cop the cd once the money situation starts lookin better for me)
in the beginning of the track you said "Llama" (yeah you prolly say it on a few tracks since its your crew), but then after the intro it goes into a totally different verse, and sounds really lofi. i think it was on the uncut raw page titled 747, or something like that. you think i could hear it again?

i've heard the greenthink stuff...not my cuppa tea. i am a big fan of clouddead, jel's solo stuff, even why?s indie-rock stuff gets me going, but greenthink just pissed me off, to be honest. it sounds like they had a lot of fun recording it, but it is not as accomplished as anything else they've done. i simply didn't dig it, but, like you, i thought i would.

dead dogs II is very good, but i recently stumbled across their Peel Sessions and they completely blew my mind. i would strongly recommend tracking that stuff down.

Jel is most of the time on point, but a lot of the anticon shit just wants to be too clever, especially dose one can piss me off with that nasal voice of his. I liked deep puddle dynamics though and buck 65 and sage francis have dropped a few nice tracks.

i know what yr saying, but dose one has a nasal voice. i mean: that's what he's got. i'd rather hear him use it than become yet another 'tough' sounding rapper.

what i think is cool about dose one is that he often finds cool ways to double-track his vocals. weird harmonies, strange syncopation, etc.

i get fatigued listening to too much of his stuff, but i respect what the man's doing.

Living Legends is an Oakland collective of dope ass rappers that start on a 4-track tape deck, Lord Finesse is a ill mc from D.I.T.C out of New York, Ultra Magnetic MC's are one of the first and best to rock a mpc 60, Souls of Mischief is from Oakland and associated with Hieroglyphics but a little better in my opinion, Diamond D is a really good producer and mc out of New York, and Freestyle Fellowship is a rap collective out of LA that includes the incredible Aceyalone.
