midi drum controller for the 303.

Post by Lawrence OneThree »

i'm trying to figure out which midi controller works with the 303. i think the mpd-24 does, but i'm looking for something in the mpd-16/trigger finger price range. what midi controller with pads do you guys use with the 303, and what is a good option under $100 used?

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

I have the padkontrol, for under $100 though I think you can get anything other than an mpd-16. Trigger Fingers are nice and I hear MPD-24 has real mpc pads.

thanks Euclid. i'm thinking i might end up springing for the mpd24 just because i'm used to using the 16 level velocity.

keep computing good responses. feeling all the new tracks you posted on your myspace btw. stay up.

Thank you Lawrence. I hear you with about saving for the MPD24, they look very nice, have midi faders and the MPC 2000xl/2500 type pads that everyone love.

fyi. TF can also do 16 levels. (it's preset 3). i did not know this until i studied the manual. the pads on the 24 are calling me, but i will never need all of the extra pads/banks/faders/knobs that it has. i just need nice vs pads that can trigger 32 samples and 16 level function.

the 16 level function is valuable to me in a midi control surface because it saves pads on the sp, to have a hi-hat pattern with specific velocities you would have to resample that sound to two or three pads, change the volumes, and consume a a huge amount of your available samples. of course i also like loosey goosey velocities when playing a sound (hi-hat) on a velocity sensitive pad, but there is a certain time to do the latter, a certain time for the former, and a certain time for single velocity.

Good lookin' out but I used to own a TF though so I already knew that. Roger Linn has developed the AdrenaLinn 3 and Blackbox for M-Audio and I can't help bu think they probably asked him for a little input on making the Trigger Finger, but that's pure speculation on my part.

I have an M-Audio Axiom 49 midi controller and the SP-303. Is there any way to play the 303's samples through the Axiom's pads? When I connect them through midi, I can only get the Axiom to play it through the keys. Help?

Don't think that one's been mentioned yet. $100 new, and a set of real mpc pads, no frills.
