looking for a drum machine
as you guy`n´gals know (or not) my music genre is more in the techno area. Now I´m looking for a neato drum machine and my eyes are glued on a TR-909. now if you look at the prices on a 1985 built 909, I´m way over 1000€ eventhough its almost 25years old.(probably because it has the fattest BD available)
Maybe somebody knows a better one and can give me a tip.
thx already
EDIT: found a clone: NOVATION DRUM STATION 808/909
what do you think?

People usually say a Novation Drumstation with a Korg electribe ER-1 is a sweeeet combo.
What about an MC-909 or MC-808? When it comes to sounds, don't those machines have TR-808/909 sounds in them as well? I'm quite content with my MC-505 for those extra fat sounds.

Yeah, you are right. The MC-505 lacks the nice round reverbed low-end part of the true 808/909 sound.

you could also look into the jomox machines as well, i've heard really good things about them. although they are kinda pricey, but i think a second hand one would be less than a 909 for sure.
also if you are just after a nice fat analog kick you could get the jomox mbase

basically it's just an analog kick drum module that can be triggered via what ever other midi sequencer/mpc/drum machine you are working with.
i guess you can also send pitch data to create some pretty immense basslines as well
they are around $299 US here, but i've seen them used go for around $200
edit: it also looks like it can be triggered via audio input so you could use it kinda like the subsonic effect on steroids.
damn typing all this up makes me ask myself why the hell i don't own one of these yet...

i'm not a connoisseur of electro stuff (but i am fan)...i have the mc505, and think the electro sounds are pretty good. i don't know about comparisons w/ the original boxes, but i DO know that the 505 has fx processors, so you could run the 808 styled stuff thru reverb, reso etc., and maybe get close.
maybe not what yr after, but i tend to like the sounds in the 505.
on the other side, i've got the sh-32, and while the drum sounds are limited, they are pretty great.

here´s a real funny 1 on Ebay: just incase someone can read German
It´s the TR-909 from Alexander Kowalski : http://cgi.ebay.de/Roland-TR-909-aus-Li ... 240%3A1318
that thing looks like somebody stirred that TR in dog shit but he still wants 1200 bucks 4 it...err I mean €
and a few knobs are making a scratchy sound...now aint that a bargin
EDIT: and when I look here---> http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0303696313 for @ the moment, 51€ and since this is just a hobby of mine....guess my choice is made
Yeah already took a peek at em...the only thing that disturbs me about them...there are not enuff knobsreignbear wrote:you could also look into the jomox machines as well, i've heard really good things about them. although they are kinda pricey, but i think a second hand one would be less than a 909 for sure..

yeah pretty aint it. He did a good job to make it more "gangsta" like
That´s the difference between a rack drum and 1 u can pound on lying in front of you....well I´m gonna try it out and hear what it sounds like, If I´m not satisfied well then I´ll keep looking for a TR that is around 6-800€ ...well that´s what I´m willing to pay for that boom boom machine
