the thread about the 303's sample reverse reminded me of a somewhat useful glitch I've found on my 404:
if you play a sample in reverse and use the mark button, no matter where you put the first mark, the second time you hit mark it will start looping the shortest possible chunk starting from that second mark.
you have now marked the smallest amount of your sample that the 404 will allow. granted, there aren't a whole lot of uses for tiny samples, but they're good for buzzing (with live effects, perhaps?) or maybe even microbeats?

I believe this works the way it does because even when the sample is reversed the second (end) mark still tells the 404 to loop to start point, but since the start point is BEHIND the end point (chronologically) it just reverts back to JUST BEFORE the end point. that "just before" is exactly the length of the shortest amount of sample the 404 can chop.

ok, so it's not that useful. but it's kind of interesting.
and yes, I know the 404 is not the tool for micropercussion, but it's possible

good tip.

I think the 404 is good for glitch core. and micro drums. messing with the fx and bpm loopers .

peace
