Yamaha su200 lo-fi cosuin...

what do you know about it?
i saw it and i though it cuold be a good friend of sp-202 and sp-303; it use smartmedia too but it import/export in .wav...it has a "scale" function that permitt you to pitch (but i don't know many of that, i have to check better in the maual)it has battery, it has lo-fi fx...it does resample, does it resample the scale? it does time stretching. does it do patterns? maybe no...
but if you got no money for a su700 and your tired to not saving samples from your su10 then...

I haven't used it but I've looked into both the su200 and su700 and they look great to me. I would go for a su700, talk about a machine that is slept on.

i like his false-modern look but i have to say that i read not many positve comments on the net of this machine...for examples i read that when you apply some fx they cause nothing by noises to the samples. i don't still understand if it does patterns or maybe it's only a sampler to do loops live...i don't even know if you can apply fx in resample. the manual it isn't clear at those two points...

anyway the su700 looks great to me too, but if you cannot stock files via scsi to your portable pc it's a little problem to me. i heard that this is an hard part to do. but it's a good machine indeed.

I waited years to find one, bought it, and was so disappointed after 45 minutes I went back to the music store I live near and swapped it for a SP303. It's not a user friendly sampler at all. I ignored everybody's opinions of it at Sonicstate.com, and I was lucky I didn't get stuck with it!

you were disappointed by the su200 or the su700?
if it's for the su200 i understand this. i was about buying one to give it a try (and also after listening those cool tracks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySXcJ2t6_uc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjkwLYCz ... re=related) but after reading very well its manual i let it go. the fx are only useful if you're not on HI grade and there is no pitch control except for the scale function: surprising to me the su10 i got is less powerful but way more functional in that edit sense and more.
if it's for the su700 let me know 'cause it still interesting me.

I never got to try a SU700, but I do know the difference between the two. I'm sure the SU700 would have been a better sampler, but the SU200 was enticing, until I got it home and found it horrible to use.

yes the su200 is apparently seducing but in reality it isn't that cool.

I have been enticed by the SU-200 and 700 but the more I see the units in action and read from everyone's experience here, it seems the best SU is the diminutive SU-10. Here's my $0.02.

In terms of editing on budget samplers, the SU-10 offers more functionality and capability when it comes to editing samples. Compared to the SP-202 and MS-1, it is stronger than both of them in the editing department. The ribbon filter is a blessing and a curse. It's great for filtering basslines but the scratch function is something I could have lived without.

To me, the quality of sound and sample rate reduction give your sounds a nice sheen of warmth and crunch, sort of like an old audio cassette. You can match bpms to a certain extent. Your loops won't be spot on but if you know what you're doing with a turntable, you can get there. Anything I'm missing, Ella? Geez, I forgot to add that you can chromatically scale your samples as well.

on the editing side, the su10 is much better than the sp202 and the su200 (you can also split or copy samples with it), i don't know for the ms1 indeed...
