what type of usb u need to connect the sp to the comp or a mpc

any standard usb will work. if u have an mpc u wanna sync grab any 5 dollars hosa midi cable.

the comp usb midi feature also doubles as an audio one. depending on your software app really all apps will work. i use reaper and pro tools and both work fine.

to get a better understanding read the midi section in the maual cuz it can get tricky when it comes to understanding channels, master/slave set ups and latency
