you can trick the flanger into making some nice tails for snares and hats and such:
Ctrl 1 is depth + res, so turn it waaay up.
Ctrl 2 is rate, so turn it waaaay up too.
Ctrl 3 is balance. ride this knob low, so you can just hear the effect behind the original sample.

tweak to taste.
a similar effect can be achieved with the phaser, but it creates a much deeper gurgle that I find works better with percussive low freq sounds.

got this one the other day,,, say you are recording into your sp from another machine playing a loop with an effect - use overdrive on the sp to fatten it up awesomely without distorting too much or using one of the compressors

Here is a my trick...

So a lot of cats dont take advantage of how warm the sp is and how thick it makes your joints sound...as appose to airy.

Here is something I do:

After your track is done, resample the whole thing using EQ on the sp. turn down the highs knob 3, and the mids knob 2 all the way and turn up the lows, knob 1... so it will just sound like a low end muffle sound...kinda like bass.... mix it at your own taste with the original then resample both tracks...remember the low end track should not be 127 in vol...maybe 60-70. When both of these are layered you will notice a hug diff...more bass and a tight little low end.

i use the isolator for this.. never tried it with the eq.. maybe that would work better?

i do this trick using a sampler editor like soundforge on my pc, but it is possible using just the sp alone. It is trickier to get right tho, and needs a bit of practice.

It's good for making tight flams and double hits on snares or hats, especially if you like beating those pads live.

Get two of the same samples on two pads - say pad 1 (forward) and pad 2 (reversed).
On pad 3 resample pad 1 and then flam pad 2 a few times with the sub pad.
Hey presto, switch pad 3 to gate, and instant jazzy flams every time you hit reverse.

It's not such a great tip for production, coz after all, you could just resample the flam onto another pad, but if you like playing grooves in without the seq. it does give you 12 extra variations without having to switch banks up.

You do need to watch out that you don't ride the gate for too long, else the reversed flam will tail back in, but that can sound good too.

probably out to an external recorder and then back in, whether its a DAW or hardware multitracker......or tape deck, you know, whatever....

just to add to that one about resampling with eq, to line em up, just sequence at 99 bars at a slow bpm and quantize on the 1 of the first measure for a sure shot thing....i know i know, duh
