404 & DR-202 Midi

Post by brad24bit »

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I'm having a hard time trying to use the SP-404 and the DR-202 via MIDI. All I want to do is be able to trigger my samples on my 404 via the pads on my DR-202 while using the dr-202's sequencer. I just picked up the 202 and it didn't have a manual. I see the dr-202 has options for midi channels, but I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas?

1.) connect midi cable from the 202 (midi out) into the midi in on the 404

2.) turn on the 404 while pressing the bpm button. Now the midi on the 404 is on AUT <---- leave it that way

and here is ur owners manual of the 202 ---> http://www.roland.co.uk/reviews/rvdr2a.pdf

Don't forget that the 404 Line Outs still needs to be connected to an Audio Input

Set up your MIDI option to OFF if you want to play your sample banks.
and read both manuals and SPI
