Put a sample on gate playback and play it freestyle to a drum sequence then you can drop it on the downbeat and press hold and the sample will loop without you having to mess with it, until you hit the hold button or sample pad again. It's useful for live stuff.

set up some samples on trigger (drums, bass) and others on gate (long drones, ambient sounds, whatever).

hit the trigger pads and have em on loop. then hit the gate pads and hit hold. when you get to the start of whatever bar, just hit the hold button again and everything on gate stops while everything triggered keeps going.

easy way to cut the mix apart.

pretty
sure that worx.

That way you wouldn't need to hold the gated samples buttons all the time? That's cool, good to know!

if i unnnerstand what yr asking, no - you can keep adding to the "hold" samples...like, hit a gated pad & hold, hit another gated pad & hit hold again, and they both 'stick' on. so you can stack up yr "hold" pads.

and again, i haven't tried this idea in a bit, but i'm pretty sure that after you've stacked yr "hold" pads, just hit hold again and they turn off.

Yo, that's what I meant, you can keep several samples running and shut them off simultaneously!?

one of the sp videos on youtube has the guy doing this hold thing without that actually being the point of the video
def cool for live layering
if you have the sp connected to something with midi you can hold down hold and hit a pattern pad then when you hit play on your other machine both patterns will play at the same time
