Loop Pedal

Post by Rhua »

I know some of you also have a Loop Pedal. I've got my Boos Loop Station for a few months now and I'm so loving it. I have my keyboards and guitar plugged into it (via a small mixer so I can actually choose which instrument I want to loop next on the fly) and the pedal running into my SP-404.

That might not be the best solution, so how do you guys involve your pedal into your setup?

i keep the looper entirely out of the sampler/keyboard chain, running my guitar (w/ fx) and a single mic (w/ fx LOL) into the looper.

so one line is keys -> 404 -> PA
and the other is guitar / vox -> looper -> amplifier.
and then there's just a mic -> PA.

that way i have stuff from the sampler that i can stop / start and stuff from the looper i can trigger at different times, always in build up or strip down, and always have a "clean" mic and an effect-ed mic.

It's just to start the sample again some times and they will be synced.

I also encountered this problem very often. Last time it took me an hour to record an idea because I didn't get the timing right and the beat would slip off after a minute or so. I also figured the solution Kristoffer stated above me is the handiest, I just switch to another pattern and from then it fits - at least for a while.

I thought about tapping the desired tempo into the loop pedal so it would repeat automatically after the right amount of time but I couldn't bring it to work properly.

I'm gonna try to rearrange my setup a bit, I guess I need a extra mixer tokeep the intruments on the loop pedal seperated from the recod player and the SP.

so how about tapping the tempobutton on the sp along with the loop? wouldn't that work?

what would be really dope, would be to get the electro harmonix 2880, it has midi in/out and accepts CF cards, and it is basically a 4 track looper.

check out the video on their website

http://www.ehx.com/products/2880

things looks so effing fresh. earlier this week i just barely missed out on copping a used one for a great price.

i'm torn between getting one of these or saving up for a machinedrum sps-1uw mkII when uncle sam gives me my monies back next week...

the 2880 is pretty great - it reminds me more of the RC50, with the 4-track capabilities and the midi sync.

for me, the RC20xl worx pretty well....the slippage described ^^ above isn't really a factor anymore...i've gotten pretty fast w/ my feet, and seem to be able to click recording on and off that match up w/ the sampler and seem to stay that way.

howevs, sometimes they do slip, of course. i tend to just re-trigger the looper, sometimes masking the re-trigger w/ vocals, or by fretting a harmonic or whatever. more or less the same thing i have to do w/ the sampler when a loop starts slipping outta sync w/ another.
