sample fade out?

hey - has anyone figured out a way to fade a sample, after putting it into the 505?

i've tried messing with highlighting a small portion of the tail, then dropping the volume on that section, then edging to the next little portion, and dropping the volume further, but the results suck.

anyone know a way to fade in / fade out?

Put an Islotar on it, resample it and put all 3 knobs down as you resample I guess....

yeah I haven't tried it, but when you resample you can mess with the effects live right? So just do what nick said... There's probably various ways of doing this.

why dont you record it into audacity...then fade the end i know i am an audacity whore....then resample back in?

oh, i don't use a computer for any sampling. i organize stuff then dump it into the ipod, sample from there. actually, the whole point of me using ANY hardware sampler is to get away from the computer!

i mean, i know there are a million workarounds for the fade out...i could even just roll down the volume from the ipod while sampling. or the FX tricks with isolator, etc.

but i was just wondering if anyone's figgered out an actual way to highlight the tail and fade it down using the wav edit screen. there may not be a way, but it seems like one of those things that would be buried in there....

I wondering how this was done too. I was just gonna edit the wave before i sampled it into the 505, but i was hoping there was a way to do this internally.

mabye turn down your ipod...when your sampling? lol know thats not very reliable...buttttt lol

guys no there isn't a way to do it like *click* and you have fade out. even MPC1000/2500 did not have this feature until JJOS was released.

but like nick said your best bet is to resample using any effect that allows you control the final volume of the sample and while resampling you turn down those knobs to silence it.

this way it kinda reminds me of the old days when you where mixing and recording songs without computers and did not see the waveform so you would do this manually like in the old days.

i get the feeling the 505 OS is one good hack away from being a sampler's dream machine.

very cool, guys. this resample trick is what i've been doing. its a fine workaround.

I didn't try, but does anyone know if resampling 3 times turning down each of the three Isolator knobs gives the same FX as resampling and turning down all 3 knobs at the same time?

Technically it should be ok, BUT 505 as far as I remember distorted samples when you resampled them many times because it uses sound compression. Thus I wont put high prices on the quality of the sound after you have resampled it a bunch of times. But those who are seeking tape quality sounds are always welcomed to do this!
