Can Someone Help Me With Gettin Everything Flowing Well??
ok, so here's the deal. my set up is
-laptop
-SP 404
-microkorg
-turntable
-krk rokit 5 monitors
well, at least, those are the main pieces.
what i wanna do is:
-have my microkorg, turntable, and laptop all going into my 404
-have my 404 and microkorg going into my laptop
-have all that going out to my speakers.
so, what i have as an idea so far is buying this mixer:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Behringer-Xenyx-1002-631264-i1153500.gc
to get everything i want going into my 404.
but i don't know what to get to have the 404 and microkorg both going into the laptop.
i wanna have the possibility of running the microkorg to my 404 or laptop so if i wanna add fx from the 404, or just run it straight into reaper where it all ends up anyway.
does anyone know of a cheap interface or usb mixer or something to do what i want??[/url]

if u want to record using a mixer of that naature, get one with
usb . itll alow you to use ASIO soundcards and recording software thats freeware like REAPER. do a search for both. that mixer wont work but
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Alesis-Mult ... 1153370.gc
this will do the job just right. do a search in the forum to find some more info on free recording software but if u plan on using that mixer usb would be the way 2 go
peace

daisy chaining things in that nature can work but if u plan on using a line/mic in on ur laptop from the sp's output u might lose some fullness. when i say that in using it loosly because you'd have to use a y adapter which splits the signal of a true stereo signal. w/o getting too techincal
its like telling a glass cup to hold a gallon of milk when u know itll only hold a cup... i know that was a terrible analogy but its better to spend a few bucks on something thatll aide u in sound quality know rather than having dope beats and it sounds like crap because of ur stock soundcard.
using a mixer will help more than u think.
p.s im not knockn using the line in cuz we all started out that way but in the end didnt we all appreciate the upgrade?

Get this interface:
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-TAS-US122L-LIST
It's cheap and does the job just fine.
I have this mixer:
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-BEH-VMX300-LIST
Which works great for my uses. you might wanna start skratchin' one day so I say get one with faders. Plus to me they just feel better and are easier to control. I had one of the tiny Behringers and I never could get into it.

Hey....can I suggest a better mixer...a soundcraft compact 4 I use one and its really good...I hear bad things about behringer..
Check it out...
http://www.soundcraft.com/product_sheet ... uct_id=121
Speaking of behringer I do use one of their audio interfaces and its treating me well, its cheap too...so if your on a budget its a good choice (or you can just spend the money you save on records
)
http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx
You can hook everything up using that..really simply..its pretty much what im doing minus the synth...The mixer has rca imputs aswell and jacks so its good for sp's and turntables..
Hope this helps...
If you want anymore info let me know... Im no expert but il do what i can.

ok first, thanks everyone for the help, but my mind is still spinning.
iG9, are you saying that tascam would do that all? or buy that with the behringer you linked?
the behringer looks promising, but i heard rca's wear out after a while. my 404's outs are already busted i think, they record the right higher than the left channel.
ok, now i'm leaning towards the alesis usb mixer, but 1 question about that: are those first 4 inputs mono only??
thanks again everyone, i feel very confused.

yes they are and 5/6 and 7/8 are your stereo inputs, you can still use them tho, if u went with that tascam interface youd be matching
mono inputs anyway same applies to most interfaces of that nature.

nah nah... erase everything u just absorbed....
the tascam will be the simplest mode of transportation of beats.
if u run everything thru ur 404 then the 404 outs to your tascam box youll be good.
i do it still since i use an mbox interface. this will work great. the mixer will only aide in you being able to record in a "live" mannerism with say a beat going on your 404 on one channel and u playing your mk on another

oh ok. thanks, lol. again i'm sorry if i'm coming off like an idiot, but this is just something else.
but the main thing i want is to have all three going into the 404 so i don't have to keep plugging and unplugging. would the behringer do that to get it all in the 404, and then just the tascam to go into the laptop??
