Hey being from the uk and being a hiphop listener, I can say that theres alot of great hiphop here.....
Here are a few People I think you should check out..

SkinnyMan, Best album Council Estate of Mind....
heres a link.....
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gz49lnnzJ ... re=related
This guy can rhyme....it definatly has a uk feel too, talks about uk issues..you can probly draw some parralles to the US there.

Also one of the best to do it in the uk, Roots Manuva
Check out the album Run Come Save Me... He's been doing this for awhile...Mc producer.
Heres a link....
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wbuSdXKtJX4
He brings a heavy dance hall/ dub flavour...well worth a listen!!

And heres some thing newer....from my local city...this album has just dropped too, it features American mc's....the producers are from nottingham...of all places.. Theres like one record shop here!
The P Brothers!!...
Heres their myspace...

http://www.myspace.com/pbrothersnotts
One cool thing about these guys is they are colabrating with US mc's which is something that needs to happen more, uk and american people colaborating.

There is loads more to check out....if you want me to post some more links let me know...
Enjoy and let me know what you think...peace :)

Yeah yeah! UKHH is dead tho, yanks only finding out about it now lol.

Skinnyman, Jehst, Kyza, Klashnekoff, Lowkey, Braintax, Evil Ed, Taskforce, The London Posse, Roots Manuva all good names.

Hate to say it, but UK Hip Hop is dead. Last good album that came out was Black The Ripper - Afro Samurai in 08 and only had like 4-5 hip hop tunes on it.

The one I have (downloaded) is called Biro Funk plus some random songs from The Travel Show. Very nice oldschoolish storytelling type of stuff in many of these songs. He's not trying to be anything he is not..

The first UK stuff I heard was Hijack in early 90's... the terrorist group..!

Dizzee's a mug.

I'll give you some classic tunes to search on the tube.

Escuchame - Braintax

Communications - Lewis Parker ft Jehst

Force the resistance - Taskforce

Witness the Fitness - Roots Manuva (bangin video on that one too lol)

Oh yeah Roots Manuva got a new album, very 'new' sounding, though it does grow on you, search Kick Up Ya Foot.

Yo Nick, thanks for those tunes! I've already heard only about Jehst. I really enjoy his way of rapping.

I recommend you a nice collabo of UK Rappers ( Reps, Dan Fresh) + Polish producer ( O.S.T.R. ). The group name is "Skillmega". They dropped really nice album few months ago, it's called "Normal Magic", you should check it out :)

Little demo of what Skillmega is "capable of"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCNMWCgekF4

( plus could you tell me what do you think about their lyrics, cuz I dont catch every word they spit :P )

Peace!
