I've been searching around on here and can't figure it out.

Can I record a pattern while listening to a sample on the sp 404

Its a sample from a 3/4 soul song but I want to add that drum pattern freehand just listening to the sample.

is this possible?

maybe: record the sample into your pattern quantized on the 1 then do your drums, then delete the sample if you dont want it there

and if you press rec while you are in pattern mode it turns on practice mode where it doesn't record anything you play, hit it again and it will record again, VERY useful
