so for looping?

Post by jbl »

question;

how do you use the loop recorder on your sp-555? and how well does it work for you?

i like the idea but i've read some dissapointing things, like in free loop mode there is a slight delay. also auto loop isn't spot on. just curious how users feel about the loop capture abilities on the triple nickel. thanks.

waddup jbl?

the loop capture definitely does have a slight delay to it... it adds a mark placement to the loop, wether it's a 2 bar, 4 bar, or whatever. I've found that the mark for start and end points can sometimes act a little erratic. It's marked my 4 bar loops down to 2 bars before for some weird reason... but the main question I have is, why does it mark the loop at all if it's supposedly being told how long to record and when to start and stop? I've messed around with removing the mark placements to see if the true measured loop is more accurate with or without and haven't really come to any major conclusion other than the fact that it seems to be ever so slightly off either way... and really off in the instances when it halfs a 4 bar loop into a 2.

I've used it to record portions of my beats as loops to trigger as looped samples instead of a built out sequence, but sometimes also placing them into seq's where you would trigger the loop on the 1 (not looping it, but retriggering with the seq)... so getting the bass as a sampled loop... the drums... and the melody... then jamming with the samples, turning on and off and what not.

To me, the gap in the loop isn't a big deal, but it could be depending on your style of production.

hope that rambling mess of a response has been somewhat helpful. 8)
