You mean you want to get drums and or basslines from underneath a sample that also contains vocals?

You will need to resample that sample and experiment with the Isolator FX and a bunch of other FX. Basically the best way to get things done is trial and error, experimenting what FX changes what.

There's a bunch of tricks you can do with the 606, but I don't quite have a step-by-step tutorial on how to remove (or isolate) vocals from a sample.

yeah man if thats what your looking for, its kinda of a lost cause, i have a few friends that have little insight to the whole sampling game that sometimes like to talk to me about it, and they thought that that would be possible to do and were relatively pissed when there wasn't really a good way to do it, i never really sweated it, its almost impossible to completely remove that area of the frequency spectrum from a single wave form containing all the sounds in the track, especially cause it (the vocals) falls in the mid range frequency which has the largest span across the spectrum, and contains almost all instruments involved besides the bass and low drums (even a good amount of there defining sound besides a deep riding bass, like the slap of the string or the drum is up in there, keep lopassing the bassline and i think it sounds like shit by itself)

i would say fuck with it a little, but be ready to include the vocals in the beat, otherwise, use google, there are some free programs out there that can do this to an extent (definitely better than the SP's can), and it always sounds better if you have a seperate bassline and drums that aren't deteriorated playing underneath it as well

You could always find out the studio where your sample source was originally recorded, break into it with a flashlight and steal the tape or backup disc containing the material you want to get at. . . granted that would be a little extreme, illegal & immoral, but it remains an option... I'm just saying

there is no way when all the tracks are mashed together. I did see somewhere I think it was the sweetwater catlouge that had a machine claiming that it could do it.
