how do you get inspired to make music?

i go through these wild swings of obsession and total inaction. i know that is sort of natural but id like to get it to a more even type thing. what do you guys do to get you amped up to make some beats?

Usually listening to music gives me inspiration. Anime is good source too.

I'd wish I would have a simple answer, but lately my inspiration gets influenced hugely by how I feel. If I feel down, I'll suck at making music. If I'm happy, I will usually end up getting plenty of ideas.

In my case the trick is more or less staying happy. (And I don't do drugs or (too much) alcohol to become happy, so it's not that easy.)

Listening to inspiring music usually works a charm. But even then I totally got those days where nothing good comes out no matter what I try.

For me it's mostly ffelings I want to express. When I'm angry at something I feel like I wanna do a track that deals with that shit. Right now my brother is in Afghanistan for example and I feel like working that into my music, how I feel about it cause it's a very strange and sometimes mad uncomfortable thought/feeling.

If I was a lyricist I'd be writing songs about stuff but I suck at writing therefor I put my mood into my music.

Same here, but getting good at writing lyrics also is a matter of daring to put stuff on paper. Little ideas and so on, edit it and ultimately everybody sort of can do it.

i just keep making shitty ass beats...put them in a folder...listen to them all just little loops...then realize that those are shit and you need to improve lol
